Secret life of an unborn child

Hey congratulations, you are going to be a mom. Motherhood is a journey, not a destination.

Most mothers are always curious about the womb life of their unborn child. How is the fetus feeling, sensing or doing all the time? Could it hear the sound? What could it sense and what not?

Let us explore the secret life of the unborn child.

Whatever machinery we see in the outer world, if all the parts are not placed in proper order the machine does not work properly. But humankind is the only machine that works in whatever condition it is from the initial days till the end.

During pregnancy on the 22nd day in the place of the heart two primitive heart tubes are formed which are connected and help in the blood supply of the fetus simultaneously the growth and the development of the heart go on. at the period of 6 months, the heart is completely formed.

It's the same thing with every organ at whatever state they are formed from that period it starts its work and simultaneously grows and develops itself to form a complete organ. This mechanism is very unique to humankind.

During the fourth week of the pregnancy, the sense of touch is formed and this sense is so powerful that a baby can even sense the touch of the fine hair. Similarly, during the 14th week, the sense of taste is developed. inside the uterus, the fetus floats in amniotic fluid and swallows some of the amniotic fluid. If the fluid is sweet then the fetus's suction ability will be faster and if the fluid is bitter the fetus won't swallow much amniotic fluid. The amniotic fluid also enters the fetus through its nostrils which develops the sense of smell in the baby. Eyesight develops on the 20th week and till the 27th week the eyes of the fetus remain closed but during the 28th week even though the eyes are closed still the fetus can respond to the light.

We know that the ability to listen is related to ears but the fetus can listen even before the ears are formed. The sound-receiving sensors are called Corte cells. These cells are spread all over the skin of the fetus which acts as a sound receiver. That is why the fetus can hear even before the ears are formed. This is the most important sense, it creates a connection to the outer world.

In Belfast scientists Shahidullah and Harper conducted experiments on 400 fetuses with 250-500 hz sound frequency and concluded that “ reactive listening “ starts from the 16th week of pregnancy. The baby in the embryo is so sensitive to sound that only five seconds of sound stimulation can cause a difference in his heartbeats and movement which last up to an hour. Reactive listening is Powerful proof of prenatal education and a Milestone in prenatal development.

The fetus listens to the outer world but more than the outer world it listens to its mother's voice. The sound from the outer world is a bit disturbing for the unborn child as it comes from outside but the voice of the mother is very pure because it can directly hear it while it comes through inside. The fetus not only hears Mother’s Voice but also recognizes, remembers, and responds to it.

Research has shown that, during pregnancy, your baby feels what you feel—and with the same intensity. That means if you're crying, your baby feels the same emotion as if it's their own. During the gestational period, your baby is preparing themselves for life in the outside world

After understanding this concept I want to tell all the expectant mothers that the unborn child is like a lump of clay and it's up to you whether you wanna make it a GOD or a DEVIL.

Role of music during pregnancy

Music creates an impact on all living beings. Good and selective music might help to grow better plants and have calmer pets. Music exerts a powerful influence on human beings.

Impact of Music on human behavior

Music has incredible effects on the body.

Scientists have found that music stimulates more parts of the brain than any other human function.

Research shows that music can help in many aspects of the brain, including pain reduction, memory, concentration, productivity, creativity, emotional balance, and stress reduction. It can boost memory, build task endurance, lighten your mood, reduce anxiety and depression, stave off fatigue, improve your response to pain, and help you work out more effectively.

Can music affect your health?

It can also reduce heart rate, lower blood pressure, and decrease cortisol ( stress hormone) levels. Increase serotonin and endorphin levels in the blood. It elevates the mood.

Music can boost the brain's production of the hormone Dopamine. This increased Dopamine production helps relieve feelings of anxiety and depression.

If music creates an impact on all living beings then definitely it also has an impact on the fetus.

In normal conditions, fetal heartbeat is 128/min

Increased 20% while listening to music 155/min

Music is nothing but different sound frequencies

a fetus can sense music before learning the language.

•First music of life - Rhythmic sound of mother’s heartbeat

Calm, relaxed and stress-free mother- regular heartbeats

Irritated and tense mother- irregular heartbeats

Listening to all kinds of music encourages early brain development in the fetus because music facilitates neuron connections in the brain. Listening and experiencing music stimulates the fetus' brain and assists with the growth of brain structures. Music increases the unborn child's intelligence. Listening to specific music on a daily basis enhances Verbal memory, Creativity and Musical intelligence.

Benefits of listening to music regularly during pregnancy -

Strengthens the bond with your unborn baby

Music can evoke positive emotions, which in turn can create a prenatal stimulation that will help you to bond with your unborn baby. A stronger connection with your unborn child can enrich your and your baby's lives.

Improves your baby's movement

Believe it or not, the baby in your womb can also hear the music you're listening to. When the unborn baby hears the vibration, he/she may also try to move in sync with the beats. This may improve the baby's reflexes and reactions, as well as overall movement.

Increases your baby's auditory senses

When you listen to your favorite songs with headphones on, your baby may try to concentrate on the sound waves. This will improve his/her mental stimulation and significantly enhance the baby's concentration, auditory senses, and skills.

Can soothe your little one after birth

Some researchers say your unborn baby may be able to remember the music and the sounds that you listened to while you were pregnant even after birth. If this is true, you can use the same music to soothe your little one after he/she is born.

Music can shape your baby's personality

It is also believed that the type of music you listen to during your pregnancy can have an effect on the baby's overall personality. For example, a pregnant woman who listens to soothing sounds and soft music may have a baby with a calm personality. If you listen to music that is loud and jarring, your baby could develop an aggressive and anxious personality. However, there is not enough research yet to back this theory.

It's normal to feel a little worried and stressed when you're pregnant. But high levels of stress and anxiety during pregnancy can increase the risk of miscarriage, preterm delivery, and a baby born with low birth weight. In pregnancy, the female body goes through a lot of hormonal changes which creates a roller coaster ride of emotions. In today’s life, everyone has some stress. Listening to music is an easy way to alter mood or relieve stress

Listening to music may help calm your mind and uplift your mood, which in turn helps lower your stress and anxiety levels. Music can also reduce any stress that the fetus may feel in the womb, experts say.

In Taiwan, a comparative study is conducted on 263 pregnant women of the 2nd and 3rd trimesters with equal status in education, finance & business. Also provides equal prenatal care, medicine & diet.

1 group – Listen to music daily for 2 weeks

2 group – Did not listen to music

At the end of the 2nd week, it is found that the level of stress, depression, and tension is lower down in the 1st group while higher in the 2nd group who did not listen to music at all.
